About Me
Hey there! I am Wang, an aquascaping enthusiast based in Asia. I started keeping planted tanks back in 2019 when I set up my first 10-gallon jungle tank in my tiny apartment. Like most beginners, I made every mistake possible - algae explosions, dead plants, fish losses.
After years of trial and error (and way too much money spent on equipment I did not need), I realized that most beginner guides online were written by experts who had forgotten what it is like to be completely new.
That is why I built BeginnerAquascape. Every guide on this site is something I wish existed when I started. No gatekeeping, just practical, tested advice that actually works for beginners.

My Approach to Content
My job is to make the call before a beginner wastes money. I start with tank volume and livestock, then match flow, light, substrate, maintenance and upgrade choices around that setup.
Every recommendation has a reason and a boundary. If a filter is too strong for a betta, a light is too aggressive for a low-tech tank, or a product only makes sense after testing water, the guide says so clearly.
The standard is a stable, attractive tank a beginner can actually maintain. I prefer a smaller number of compatible purchases over impressive-looking equipment that creates more work.
